The Metropolitan Theatre hosts theatrical, musical and dance productions by West Virginia University and performances by the Morgantown Theatre Company, as well as presentations by other local groups and private events. The theater is located in historical downtown Morgantown, near a number of restaurants and unique retail shops. Built in the neoclassical revival style, the theater was opened in 1924 as a playhouse and has featured performing greats such as Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Helen Hayes.
